Location:
In the centre of the supra-scapular fossa, directly above SI11(Tianzhong), in a depression formed when the arm is raised.
Functions and indications of Bingfeng:
Benefits the sinew and reduces pain so is beneficial for pain in scapular region, numbness and aching of the upper extremities, motor impairment of the shoulder and arm.
Method:
Oblique medial insertion towards the spine 0.5 to 1 cun.
Remarks:
Meeting point of Small Intestine, Large Intestine, Triple energizer and Gallbladder channel
Good for rotator cuff.
Precautions:
Deep perpendicular insertion, especially in thin patients, carries a substantial risk of inducing a pneumothorax.
