Location:
1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 10th thoracic vertebra.
Functions:
- Cools and drain heat from liver and gall bladder.
- Calms the stomach (gastritis).
- Regulates the qi.
- Expands the diaphragm.
Indication:
- Danshu is main point for gallbladder diseases, such as jaundice, bitter taste in mouth, hypochondriac pain.
- Pulmonary phthisis, high fever.
Method:
Puncture obliquely 0.5-0.8 cun.

Back-Shu Point of the Gallbladder.
Precaution:
Deep perpendicular or needling in a wrong direction carries a substantial risk of causing a pneumothorax.
