Location:

On the lower abdomen, 1.3 cun inferior to Daheng (SP15), 4 cun lateral to the midline.

Functions of fujie:

  • Warms center and dissipates cold (in abdomen).
  • Moves qi and descends rebellious qi (for digestion).

Indications:

Pain around the umbilical region, abdominal distension, hernia, diarrhoea, constipation.

Method:

Perpendicular insertion, 0.5 to 1 cun.

Precautions:

In thin patients deep needling may penetrate the peritoneal cavity.
