Location:

On the face, in the depression slightly superior to the inner canthus.

Functions of Jingming:

  • Disperses wind and cools heat.
  • Brightens eyes.
  • Controls rise of yin and yang to the eyes.

Indication:

Jingming is used for local eye problems like redness, pain, and swelling of the eyes, lacrimation, myopia, blurred vision, dizziness, night blindness, color blindness.

Method:

Keeping the eye closed, the practitioner gently pushes the eyeball to the lateral side. Puncture slowly perpendicularly along the orbital wall for 0.3-0.5 cun. Do not rotate, lift and thrust.

When withdrawing the needle, use a dry cotton ball to press the puncture site to avoid bleeding.

Remarks:

  • Entry point.
  • Meeting point with the du mai, yin qiao mai, yang qiao mai as well as the ST, S.I., G.B. channels.
  • Crossing point of yin qiao vessel.
  • Crossing point of yang qiao vessel.
  • Main point for eye diseases.

Precaution:

When withdrawing the needle, use a dry cotton ball to press the puncture site to avoid bleeding.
Do not apply moxibustion.
