Meichong BL3: Nomenclature, Location, Functions, Indications

Meichong BL3 is directly above Zanzhu, 0.5 within the anterior hairline, between Shenting (GV24) and Quchai (BL4).

Mei: eyebrow Chong: upward
Meichong is at the anterior hairline, directly above the eyebrow.
Point: BL3
Chinese Name: 眉冲
Name: Meichong
English Name/Meaning: Eyebrows’ Pouring
Pinyin: méi chōng

Location:

Directly above Zanzhu, 0.5 within the anterior hairline, between Shenting (GV24) and Quchai (BL4).

Functions of Meichong:

  • Brightens the eyes.
  • Benefits the nose.

Indications:

  • Headache, epilepsy, giddiness, epilepsy, nasal obstruction.
  • Eyes disorders: blurred vision, pain in eyes, dry eyes, itching sensation in eyes.
  • Upper jiao problems: disorders of heart and lungs.

Method:

Transverse insertion 0.5 to 1 cun.

Remarks:

During needling, point backwards from the front of head. Except in nosebleed.
