Location:
1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 11th thoracic vertebra.
Functions of pishu:
- Regulates spleen qi and assist in transformation and transportation. (Helps with digestion).
- Supports the earth and eliminates dampness (feeling of heaviness , reduced appetite).
- Nourishes the blood.
Indication:
- Gastric disorder, such as abdominal distension, chronic diarrhea, dysentery, hematochezia, anorexia.
- Edema, jaundice.
Method:
Puncture obliquely 0.5-0.8cun.
Remarks:
Back-Shu Point of the Spleen.
Precaution:
Deep perpendicular or needling in a wrong direction carries a substantial risk of causing a pneumothorax.
