Nomenclature:

Qian: Front Ding: Vertex
Qianding is in front of the vertex
English name/meaning : Front Vertex
Chinese name: 前頂
Chinese pinyin : qián dǐng
Korean name: jeon jeong 전정
Japanese name: zen chō?
Vietnamese name: Tiền đính

Location of Qianding:

This point is located in the midline, 3.5 cun above the anterior hairline. OR 1.5cun anterior to DU20/Baihui.

Method:

Insert transversely 0.5 cun t0 1 cun. Moxibstion can be done.

Indication:

  • This point calms “SHEN” so is used for various mental ilness line anxiety, depression, epilepsy, infantile convulsion.
  • Used in various eyes and nose problems.
  • Local disorders like headache, migraine, heaviness of head, poor concentration, poor memory, stiff neck, cloudy mind

Remarks

Be careful while needling in children.

Precautions:

This point should not be needled in infants whose fontanelle has not yet closed.
