Nomenclature:

Ran: Tuberosity of the naviculer bone Gu: valley
Ranggu is in the depression below the tuberosity of the navicular bone, as in a valley.

Name: Rangu
English Name/Meaning: Nature Valley
Pinyin: rán gǔ
Han Geul 한글: yeon gok 연곡
Romaji: nen koku

Location:

On the medial border of the foot, inferior to the tuberosity of the navicular bone, at the junction of the red and white skin.

Functions:

  • Clears kidney heat/fire -strongest point on KI channel to clear deficiency heat from Kidney ( inflammation of throat, hemoptysis, diabetes, thirst, dryness).
  • Regulate the lower Jiao ( genital itching, prolapse uterus, menses).

Indications of Rangu:

  • Rangu is main point for reproductive problems: irregular menstruation, prolapsed uterus, pruritus vulvae, morbid leucorrhea, seminal emission, difficulty in urination.
  • Diarrhea, Diabetes;
  • Tetanus or lockjaw, Sore and swollen throat, Hemoptysis.

Method:

Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-0.8 cun.

Remark:

Ying-Spring Point.
Good for plantar fasciitis.
