Location:
In the front of the ear, on the upper border of the zygomatic arch, in the depression directly above ST7 (Xiaguan).
Functions of Shangguan:
- Clears heat, invigorates collateral.
- Opens orifice and benefits hearing.
Indications:
Headache, Deafness, tinnitus, deviation of eye and mouth, toothache, depression, epilepsy.
Method:
Perpendicular insertion 0.3 to 0.5 cun.
Remarks:
Meeting point of Triple energizer, Stomach and Gallbladder.
Precautions:
- Deep Needling should be avoided.
- Avoid zygomaticoorbital artery and vein.
