Nomenclature:

Shen: mind Dao: pathway
The heart houses the mind. Shendao is medial to Xinshu (BL15), like a pathway of the mind.
Point: GV11
Chinese Name: 神道
Name: She ndao
Pinyin: shén dào
English Name/Meaning: Way of the Spirit
Han Geul 한글:sin do 신도
Romaji: shin dō
Vietnamese:Thần đạo

Location:

Below the spinous process of the fifth thoracic vertebra.

Functions:

  • Calms the heart and spirit.
  • Dispels wind and heat.

Indication:

  • Epilepsy, chest pain, chest tightness, insomnia, poor memory, aphasia from stroke.
  • Palpitation.

Method:

Puncture obliquely upward 0.5-1 cun.

Remark:

One of the very important point for chest tightness.

Precautions for Shendao:

Deep insertion should be avoided. The spinal canal lies between 1.25 and 1.75 cun deep to the skin surface, varying according to body build.

He is a registered Doctor in NAMC (Nepal Ayurveda Medical Council ) both as a physician as well as TCM/Acupuncture Specialist.
