Location:

In the depression on the lower border of the clavicle, 2 cun lateral to the anterior midline.

Functions and indications:

  • Relaxes chest and sedates rebellious Qi (cough, chest pain, chest congestion).
  • Calms dyspnoea and supresses cough (asthma attack, breathing problems).

Method:

Transverse-oblique insertion, directed laterally along the intercostal space 0.5 to 1 cun.

Remarks:

  • Soothing calming, sedating point for chronic asthma.
  • Common point for depression and grief.

Precautions:

Deep perpendicular or oblique needling may puncture the lung.
