Nomenclature:

Su: nasal cartilage Liao:foramen
Suliao is in a foramen at the lower end of the nasal cartilage.

English name/meaning : Plain Space
Chinese name: 素髎
Chinese pinyin : sù liáo
Korean name: so ryo 소료
Japanese name: so ryō?
Vietnamese name: Tố liêu

Location:

Suliao is located on the midline at the tip of nose.

Method:

  • Insert perpendicularly 0.2 to 0.2 cun.
  • Insert transversely directed superiorly 0.5 to 1 cun.
  • Prick to bleed.

Indication:

  • This point benefits nose and is beneficial for various nasal disorders like nasal congestion, nasal bleeding due to excess heat, nasal polyps.
  • This is a local nose point to disperse heat and phlegm.

Remark:

Point on the tip of nose.

Precautions:

According to several classical text, this point is contraindicated for moxibustion. Blood letting can be done.
