Nomenclature:

Tian: upper              Zong: respect
Tianzong means an important point on the upper part of the body.

Point: SI-11
Chinese Name: 天宗
Name: Tianzong
English Name/Meaning: Heavenly Gathering
Pinyin: tiān zōng
Han Geul 한글: cheon jong 천종
Romaji: ten sō
Vietnamese: Thiên tông

Location:

In the region of the scapular, in the depression of the center of subscapular fossa, level with the 4th thoracic vertebra.

Indication:

  • Tianzhong is mostly used for shoulder pain (most of shoulder pain patients feel very tender in Tianzhong).
  • Tianzhong is also beneficial in exterior syndrome: breathing problems.
  • Also used in front breast tenderness, Mastitis.

Method:

Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-1 cun.

Precaution:

For thin conditions, oblique puncture is recommended.
