Tinggong SI19 : Nomenclature, Location, Function, Indication

Nomenclature:
Ting: hearing Gong: palace
Tinggong refers to the ear. The point is located in front of the ear and is indicated in treating otological disease.

Location:
On the face, anterior to the tragus and posterior to the condyle of the mandible, in the depression formed when the mouth is open.
Indications of Tinggong:
- Tinggong is one of the best points for ear disorders like tinnitus (acute), nausea, vomiting, vertigo. Also use other points – GB2, SJ17 & 21 good too. Palpate which is more tender.
- Calm “Shen” – bipolar, hearing voices that do not exist, Epilepsy.
Method:
Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-1.0 cun. When the mouth is open in locating the point, better to put something in the mouth to fix the position.
