Location:

1.5cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 12th thoracic vertebra.

Functions of weishu:

  • Regulates stomach qi.
  • Transforms damp.
  • Eliminates food stagnation.

Indication:

Main point for gastric disorders like epigastric pain, vomiting, abdominal distension, borborygmus.
Chest and hypochondriac pain.

Method:

Puncture obliquely 0.5-0.8cun.

Remarks:

Back-Shu Point of the Stomach.

Precaution:

Deep perpendicular or needling in a wrong direction carries a substantial risk of causing a pneumothorax.
