Wuyi is int he middle of the chest; when the inhaled air reaches this point, it “conceals” itself in the underlying room.

Location:

In the second intercostal space, 4 cun lateral to the anterior midline.

Functions and Indications:

  • Regulate lung and qi of the chest so is beneficial in fullness and pain in the chest and the costal region, cough, asthma.
  • Breast problems: tenderness, pain, itching, nodules.
  • Heavyness of extremities.

Method:

Puncture obliquely 0.3-0.5 cun.

Remarks:

Oblique insertion only.

Precautions:

Deep or perpendicular insertion carries a substantial risk of puncturing the lung.
