Yuji LU10 : Nomenclature, Location, Function, Indication
Nomenclature:
Yu: fish ji:border
Yuji is now used as an anatomical word. The musculi flexor policis in the palm are prominent like a fish, the point is located just on its border.
Location:
This point is located on the thenar eminence of the hand, in the depression between midpoint of the shaft of 1st metacarpal bone, on the junction of the red and white skin.
Method
Puncture perpendicularly 0.5-0.8 cun.
Indication
Respiratory disorder: cough , asthma, shortness of breathe, nasal obstruction. Clears heat from the lung channel especially in case of coughing accompanied by bleeding. Also clears heat transmitted from the lung to the stomach in middle jiao and the heart in the upper jiao.
Mastitis: Ancients recommend 27 units of moxa to treat mastitis.
Other disorder: swelling and pain in throat, fever.
Remark:
Ying spring point and fire point of lung (clear heat from lung)
