Yunmen LU2: Nomenclature, Location, Function, Indication

Nomenclature:

Yun: cloud Men : Door

In term Yunmen, Yun refers to Lung qi. So this point is loacted on the upper upper part of chest which serves as a door for lung Qi.

Location:

This point is located below the lateral extremity of clavicle 6 cun lateral to  the anterior midline, in the centre of the holloe of the delto-pectorel triangle.

Method

Puncture obliquely or transversely 0.5-0.8 cun toward the lateral side of the chest; deep perpendicular insertion toward the medial aspect is prohibited in order to avoid puncturing the lung and causing pneumothorax.

Indication

Respiratory disorder: cough ,wheezing, orthopnoea, asthma, shortness of breathe
Chest disorder: tightness of chest, chest pain,
Throat disorder:  sore throat
Local disorder: shoulder pain, stiffness

Remark:

Precaution:

Avoid deep perpendicular insertion toward the medial aspect  in order to avoid puncturing the lung and causing pneumothorax.
