Nomenclature:

Da: Big        Du: assembling
Dadu is at the big toe, where the qi of the meridian gathers.

Point: SP-2
Chinese Name: 大都
Name: Dadu
English Name/Meaning: Great Metropolis
Pinyin: dà dū
Han Geul 한글: dae do 대도
Romaji:dai to
Vietnamese: Đại đô

Location:

On the medial side of the big toe, in the depression distal and inferior to the first metatarso- phalangeal joint.

Functions:

  • Tonify spleen and harmonizes stomach.
  • Clears heat.

Indications of dadu:

Digestive disorders : Abdominal Distension, gastric pain, constipation, febrile disease without sweating.

Method:

Oblique inferior insertion 0.3 to 0.5 cun.

Remarks:

  • Ying-Spring Point.
  • Famous for febrile disease without sweating ( In such case pathogenic factor is so severe that it covers whole body like a blanket), so bleed it.
  • Mother (Reinforcing ) point.

Dr. Ishwar Gyawali

Dr. Ishwar Gyawali is Consultant Acupuncturist and Ayurveda Physician from Kathmandu, Nepal. He had completed BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery), a five and half year course on Ayurveda Medicine from Kirtipur Campus affiliated to Tribhuvan University ,Institute Of Medicine, Nepal under scholarship in 2011. He had completed his MD in TCM from Nanjing University Of Chinese Medicine in 2016 under scholarship of Ministry of Education, Nepal. With an experience of Serving for Government of Nepal for 2 years and private practise for more than 5 years, he has sound knowledge in Ayurveda as well as Chinese Medicine. He is a registered Doctor in NAMC (Nepal Ayurveda Medical Council ) both as a physician as well as TCM/Acupuncture Specialist.
