English Name/Meaning: Calming Wheezing
Chinese Name: 定喘
Chinese Pinyin: Dingchuan


Dingchuan is located on the back, 0.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the seventh cervical vertebra.

Functions and Indications  of Dingchuan:

  • Dingchuan harmonises lung qi, stops cough and wheezing so is good for asthma, cough, oppression of the chest, shortness of breath.
  • Local point for the stiff neck, painful shoulder and back.

Method :

Perpendicular insertion 0.5-0.8 cun.


The main point for dyspnoea.
