Erheliao is in the depression in front of the tragicus and improves hearing.

Approximately 0.5 cun anterior to the upper border of the root of the ear, in a slight depression on the posterior border of the hairline of the temple.

Functions and Indications of erheliao:

Opens ear; dispels wind and invigorates collateral so is beneficial for migraine, heaviness of head, tinnitus, and lockjaw.


Transverse insertion, medially along the eyebrow or posteriorly, 0.5 to 1 cun.


Exit point.


Avoid superficial temporal artery.
