Location:
Superior to the medial end of the clavicle, in the depression between the sternal and clavicular heads of the sternocleidomastoid muscle.
Functions:
Benefits the throat and neck and descends qi.
Indications of qishe:
- Sore throat, pain and rigidity of the neck, asthma, hiccup, goiter.
- Esophagus problems – vomiting, belching, nausea.
Method:
Perpendicular insertion 0.3 to 0.5 cun.
Precautions:
Deep insertion may puncture the lung.
