Chinese Pinyin: 球后

Location:

Qiuhou is located on the region of the face, at the junction of the lateral one-fourth and the medial three-fourths of the infraorbital margin.

Functions and Indications :

Qiuhou benefits eye so is useful for various eye diseases such as optic neuritis, optic atrophy, pigmentary degeneration of the retina, glaucoma, early stage of cataract, myopia.

Method :

Ask the patient to close their eyes and look upwards. Push the eyeball upward gently, perpendicularly insert the needle slowly 0.5-1.5 cun along the orbital margin.

Precautions:

  • Insert the needle slowly without lifting, thrusting or rotating.
  • Immediately on withdrawal of the needle, press firmly with a cotton wool ball for about a minute to prevent haematoma.
  • Do not perform this needling method by those who have not had appropriate clinical supervision.
  • Moxibustion is not applicable.
