Location:
In the region of the temples, in the depression about one finger-breadth posterior to the midpoint between the lateral end of the eyebrow and the outer canthus.
Functions and Indications :
- Taiyang courses wind and dissipate heat so is good for headache, vertigo, insomnia, itching and pain in eyes.
- Also clears heat and brightens eyes, so is useful in disease of eye, swelling and pain of the eye.
- Invigorates channel and reduces pain: toothache, facial paralysis, facial pain
Method :
- Perpendicular needling 0.5 to 0.8 cun.
- Transverse insertion posteriorly towards Shuaigu GB-8, 1 to 1.5 cun.
- Oblique insertion anteriorly 0.3 to 0.5 cun.
- Prick to bleed.
Remarks:
One of the most important and commonly used extra point points for headache.
