Location :
On the lateral side of the upper arm, 3 cun proximal to Quchi (LI11), on the line connecting Quchi (LI11) with Jianyu (LI15).
Functions :
Courses channel and connecting vessels.
Indications of shouwuli :
- Respiratory problems: Cough blood, SOB.
- Digestive problems: loss of appetite, borborygmus.
- Scrofula & goitre (LI 13- LI 18).
- Lethargy – sleepiness, malaria; regulate Yang Qi.
- Local problems: pain and stiffness in elbow, numbness in the upper arm, paralysis of the upper arm, elbow joint pain.
Method :
Perpendicular insertion 1 to 1.5 cun.
Precautions :
- Avoid radial collateral artery and vein.
- Do not use direct moxa.
