Taiyuan LU9 : Nomenclature, Location, Function, Indication

Nomenclature:

Tai :Great     Yuan: deep pool

The qi of this meridian in the local part of the point is abundant as water in deep pool.

Location:

This point is located  on the transverse crease of the wrist, in the depression on the radial side of the radial artery.

Method

Puncture perpendicularly  0.2-0.3 cun.

Indication

Respiratory disorder:  cough , asthma, shortness of breathe, nasal obstruction.
Other disorder: swelling and pain in throat, Takayasu’s disease
Local disorder: wrist pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist stiffness.

Remark:

Shu-Stream and Yuan-Source point; One of the Eight Inflential Points (Vessel Convergence)

Precaution:

Avoid radial artery.
