Shaochong HT9 : Nomenclature, Location, Function, Indication, Method

Nomenclature:
Shao: Young Chong: Gushing
Shaochong is on the little finger on the Hand-Shaoyin Meridian, where the Qi of the meridian originates and gushes upwards along the meridian.
Location:
On the radial side of the little finger, approximately 0.1 cun from the corner of the nail.
Indications of shaochong:
Opens cardiac orifices so help to revise consciousness: coma;
Clears heart and spirit: Cardiac pain, palpitation, Psychosis;
Removes pathogenic heat, so used in febrile disease to lower temperature.
Method:
Shallow puncture 0.1-0.2cun, or prick to induce bleeding.

Jing-well point.
