Yindu KI19: Nomenclature, Location, Functions, Indications



Yin: Yin of Yin-Yang Du: to gather
Yin refers to the abdomen and the Yin meridian. Hence yin du is in the abdomen where water and food are stored.
Point: KI19
Chinese Name: 阴都
English Name/Meaning: Yin Metropolis
Pinyin: yīn dū
Han Geul 한글: eum do 음도

Vietnamese: Âm đô


4 cun above the umbilicus, 0.5 cun lateral to Zhongwan (Ren 12).


  • Strengthens the middle jiao, regulates stomach and intestine.
  • Clears blockage in intestine, uterine area.

Indications of yindu:

  • Vomiting, abdominal pain, Constipation.
  • Postpartum abdominal pain, infertility.


Perpendicular insertion 1 to 1.5 cun.


Meeting point of Kidney and chong vessel.


Deep needling may penetrate the peritoneal cavity.
