Nomenclature:

Da: great He: plentiful
Dahe is the confluence of the kidney meridian and thoroughfare Vessel ( Chongmai ), where the primary Qi of the Lower Jiao is plentiful.

Name: Dahe
English Name/Meaning: Great Luminance
Pinyin: dà hè
Han Geul 한글: dae hyeok 대혁
Romaji: tai kaku
Vietnamese: Đại hách

Location:

4 cun below the umbilicus, 0.5 cun lateral to Zhongji (REN4).

Functions:

Regulates conception and governor vessel.

Indications of dahe:

Nocturnal emission, impotence, morbid leucorrhoea, pain in the external genitalia, prolapse of uterus.

Method:

Perpendicular insertion 0.5 to 1 cun.

Remarks:

  • Meeting point of Kidney and Chong Vessel.
  • Great as a substitute for REN3.
  • Help ovulation (KI12, REN3, REN4).

Precautions:

  • Avoid deep needling, to prevent urinary bladder injury when full.
  • Avoid in Pregnancy.
