Nomenclature:

Tai: great Bai:white
The point is in the white skin of the big toe, where the white skin is the widest.

Point: SP-3
Chinese Name: 太白
Name: Taibai
English Name/Meaning: Supreme White
Pinyin: taì bái
Han Geul 한글: tae baek 태백
Romaji: tai haku
Vietnamese: Thái bạch

Location:

On the posterior border of the small head of the 1st metatarsal bone, at the junction of the red and white skin.

Indications of Taibai:

  • Shu stream point- Heaviness of the body, pain in joints.
  • Yuan source point- Good for problems of zang organs mostly Spleen deficiency (Stomachache, abdominal distension, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dysentery, anorexia ).

Method:

Perpendicularly 0.5-0.8 cun.

Significant combination:

Combination of Yuan source and Luo- connecting combination: SP 3 and ST 40 is used for excessive phlegm. SP3 is an important point to tonify the Spleen, whilst ST40 is the primary point to resolve phlegm.
