Nomenclature:

Ji: urgent    Mai: artery
Jimai is at the medial aspect of the thigh, where the artery can be palpated.

Pinyin: jí mài
English Name/Meaning: Swift Pulse
Han Geul 한글: geum maek 금맥
Romaji: kyū myaku?
Vietnamese: Cấp mạch

Location:

1 cun inferior and 2.5 cun lateral to REN 2, in the crease of the groin, medial to the femoral vein.

Functions and Indications of jimai:

Clears channel and dispels cold so is beneficial for treating hernia, genital pain

Method:

Medial, slightly oblique insertion 0.5 to 0.8 cun.

Precautions:

Care should be taken to avoid penetrating the femoral artery and vein.
