Jimai LR12 : Nomenclature, Location, Functions, Indications



Ji: urgent    Mai: artery
Jimai is at the medial aspect of the thigh, where the artery can be palpated.

Chinese Name: 急脈
Pinyin: jí mài
English Name/Meaning: Swift Pulse
Han Geul 한글: geum maek 금맥
Romaji: kyū myaku?
Vietnamese: Cấp mạch


1 cun inferior and 2.5 cun lateral to REN 2, in the crease of the groin, medial to the femoral vein.

Functions and Indications of jimai:

Clears channel and dispels cold so is beneficial for treating hernia, genital pain


Medial, slightly oblique insertion 0.5 to 0.8 cun.


Care should be taken to avoid penetrating the femoral artery and vein.

He had completed his MD in TCM from Nanjing University Of Chinese Medicine in 2016 under scholarship of Ministry of Education, Nepal. With an experience of Serving for Government of Nepal for 2 years and private practise for more than 5 years, he has sound knowledge in Ayurveda as well as Chinese Medicine. He is a registered Doctor in NAMC (Nepal Ayurveda Medical Council ) both as a physician as well as TCM/Acupuncture Specialist.
